The Casino Cashier at Amber Coast
3 Oct 2006
The online casino industry is in a frenzy following the US legislation to ban gambling on the internet, and many are still trying to figure out how it is affecting the different sectors that make up the online casino world. The online casinos themselves are experiencing major share drops and many are pulling out from the US market, effective immediately.
The President's signature has yet to be seen anywhere near the legislation but it seems that there is no way out. There are many who make up the online casino world, some are affected more than others, but all in all, everybody remains with a lot of open questions regarding their own businesses. The only fact right now is that the online casino gambler has little to worry about, as there is no mention of gamblers being prosecuted for placing bets or playing poker online, it's all on the online casinos.
Questions remain for those who provide online casino payment methods, and these companies will be the focus of a meeting in London this week. Those representing these companies are geared up for a potential battle. The banks are also trying to adapt to the new reality, they have been ordered to track and block payments to the online casinos but it seems as if they are running into trouble as many of these banks lack the technological means to launch such a tracking and blocking operation. For now, it looks like the gambling gates are still open for online casino players who would like to place their bets. |
