Online Casino Ring Operators Busted in NYThe Casino Cashier at Amber Coast

23 Nov 2006

In one of the largest cases in New York State history, authorities have busted an illegal online casino gambling ring. The case took two years of investigation into illegal international online casino gambling and is estimated to be worth a staggering $500-million in asset forfeitures. This is the first time that Internet gambling arrests have been made in New York since President Bush signed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act against online casino gambling.

Twenty-seven people were charged with running a billion-dollar-a-year online casino ring. The high-stakes poker player, James Giordana, ran the online casino site, known as Playwithal.com. Police also suspect a professional baseball scout, Frank Falzarono for being part of the ring. Falzarano is a scout for the Washington Nationals and a former scout for the San Francisco Giants. It is not clear what role he played in the illegal online casino ring.

Police managed to seize computers, gambling records and hundreds of millions of dollars in property – including condos in Manhattan – belonging to the online casino ring. Also confiscated were casino chips valued at tens of thousands of dollars from a Las Vegas casino and other valuables such as art and jewelry. Police arrested people involved in the online casino racket in locations such as New Jersey, Florida, Nevada and NY.
