A cold and freezing weather may not be the best thing for everyone, but it seems that, at least for the online casino industry, it might be a good thing after all. That was clearly the case last week, when temperatures in some Canadians and US areas dropped below freezing, and the number of visitors in many online casinos rose substantially.
In one of the online casino poker sites, more than 12,000 poker players hit the virtual tables in a 24 hour peak during last week, a huge increase compared to the usual 8,000 visitors per day. Other web sites reported significant raises as well, some of them even exceeding the 100% mark. According to those online casino sites, the main surge came from the US Midwest states, where the most extreme weather conditions have been experienced last week.
Although the bad weather might be a good thing for the online casino sites, that’s not always the case. Heavy snowfalls and icy conditions have the potential to interrupt power supplies, leaving PCs unusable, something not too uncommon in those areas. But even with that taken into account, online casino operators can be satisfied with the latest predictions of more cold weather coming this weekend. It may be ice cold out there in the streets, but the warmth of the home is all an online casino player really needs.
